“Dil Chahta Hai just HAPPINESS!”
As per my routine morning walk, today when I was talking a brisk walk at Nana-Nani park near my house, one of the co-walkers, Arvind Ballal, in his mid-50s, who had suddenly vanished a month ago, came chasing me
from behind. He is the CMO of multinational company, driving the plush BMW X-7 series chauffeur driven car, and that belongs to the company he works for. “K…K…Hang on man…Oye K…” I could hear his calling and turned back. “Hey Arvind where had you vanished suddenly friend?” I asked in an awe. “Ohh…lemme tell you…come here sit…sit…” gaspingly he dumped himself on a bench, and added, “Look at this…” he took-up his T-shirt and to showed me the stitches. “Oh gosh! You’d an open-heart surgery, Aru?!” He nodded in affirmation. “Why? What for? What happened so suddenly that you’d to undergo OHS?!”
“Tension…no peace…no happiness in life, K.!” I just controlled myself being fainted upon his riposte. “Life mein yaar Khushi hi nahi bachi hain…pata nahi kya karu!” While he said this, I could see the borders of his teary eyes waiting to escape them! “Wife is having an affair with a man 20 years younger than her! Anala (his daughter who’s studying medicine in the US) doesn’t want to work in super specialty hospitals post her MS but wants to dedicate her life to treat the underprivileged of rural India! Uparse, job ka tension, our competitors have copied our products in no time and are selling at half our price with no compromise on quality! K., now you temme what should I do, yaar?!...Since blood pressure was high, I did all the paths and ECG etc; and was found that that the valve of one of the ventricles was non functional. So, immediately I was put on to the OT at Asian Heart Institute!”…
This was one case; but there are very many cases we see today not just confined to India but globally, that, people at large are Not Happy!
The rich or the poor, the educated or an illiterate, an employee or an employer, a businessman or a helper, the ascetic or an atheist…even…the (so called) Seeker and the Sought!
No one…just no one’s happy in today’s life! Why? What is that one (or many?!) thing/s stopping us from the long-standing happiness? Is happiness so precious? Is happiness a privilege of the Gods (if at all they exist)?...All
these questions related to happiness, needs a systematic enquiry! A systematic examination or an investigation that will take us to the root cause of unhappiness, hence only to unfold and experience the serenity of happiness!
In Hindus, we’ve 'dedicated' almost all the days to various ‘gods’; as in, on Tuesdays, I happen to see a huge queue of people standing outside Prabhadevi’s (Mumbai) Siddhivinayak temple,On that's almost 1-2 kilometre long! Thursdays, the ‘donation boxes’ in the temples of Saibaba, Swami Samarth and Lord Dattatreya are full of ‘dakshina’ (donations) from pennies to dollars to golds and diamonds…yet, those ‘donors’ are NOT happy! In church, they lite candles; while in mosque, they offer 'chaddar'!
Mankind in this world, and especially, in our country, is entrapped so much deeply in superstitions, fear, dogmas, cultures, and mere rituals that despite having done havans, prayers, poojas, and/or visiting to mosques, churches, shrines, or some gurus; no one is able to find the true happiness! It is like taking the pain-killers to ‘end-the-pain’! But, my friends, does the pain really end?!...Nope! It gets only supressed not ends!
My beloved mothers, sisters, fathers and brothers; what is the REAL HAPPINESS then? Having said this, the first question would instantly come-up in your mind is, “Does there exist a real happiness?” followed by a bombardment of questions, like, “How can I find it?...And Where?...And who gives it? And for what price?...,” and so forth!
As the then British Prime Minister, Mr, Winston Churchill had once said that this country (India) is so much deeply sunk in superstitions that it is very difficult to take the people out from it. But if we really carryout a systematic enquiry, we would learn that this statement of his was not only confined to India, but almost all the world is drowned in superstitions some or the other way! And unless each one of us doesn’t dare to ‘enquire’ within himself/herself, trust me, the much coveted and the much sought-after happiness is going to remain nothing more than a mirage…a mere illusion or a hallucination! So, to find a long-standing happiness, you need to start ‘looking within’, for, the outer world, howsoever immortal, unending, eternal you think…it is NOT!
In fact, You, as you see yourself as a matter, is not the real You! The more you strain your stimuli towards external ‘sources of happiness’; let me candidly confess the truth here, that you will keep running behind it like a Bull-driven cold-press oil mill, where, the bull moves ahead to chase the bunch of grass tied a feet ahead of him and in a greed to eat the grass, he keeps moving in rotation, thus enabling the oil to be produced from the seed!
My friends, we all have become those Bulls today, who’re running 24x7x365 in search of happiness, and at the fag end of the day or life, we get badly beaten up emotionally, like Arvind or those poor farmers of our own Vidarbha and Marathwada who committed suicides…or the psychopaths easily found on the streets of London! The way to real happiness that culminates into eternal Joy, is Within YOU, and each one of us can discover it and embrace it without the need of any guru or ustad or master, for, YOU are the Master of your own happiness, by understanding the simplest and the purest (original) form of Meditation!
Soon we shall delve into the real causes of unhappiness, in the second part of this article, and you will find that up-till now you’ve wasted so much of the money-energy-emotions-time (MEET), in order to meet the happiness!
So... please do await my next article😊
